Enthält u.a. die Stücke "The Folk Song Army", "Wernher von Braun", "The Vatican Rag ", "Send the Marines" etc. Thomas "Tom" Andrew Lehrer (geb. 1928) ist ein US-amerikanischer Singer-Songwriter, Satiriker und Mathematiker. Sein veröffentlichtes musikalisches Werk umfasst nur ungefähr 50 Titel, gilt als intellektuell und kulturell aber bedeutend und kann dem Genre des Novelty Song zugeordnet werden. Sein wichtigstes Stilmittel ist die Parodie populärer Liedformen mit gewagten Texten. In einem Song hat er beispielsweise das gesamte Periodensystem der Elemente in kaum anderthalb Minuten in gereimter Form verarbeitet! Vorliegende Platte war seine letzte. Seine späteren Songs, behandeln von einem links-liberalen Standpunkt aus betrachtet deutlich mehr politische und tagesaktuellen Themen, wie die in der hier vorliegenden Kompilation von Liedern, die er für die amerikanische Version der satirischen britischen TV-Show "That Was The Week That Was (TW3)" schrieb. Ende der 1960er-Jahre zog er sich weitgehend aus dem Showbusiness zurück und trat nur noch glegentlich auf. Er wandte sich dann verstärkt seiner Lehrtätigkeit als Mathematiker zu (u.a. in Havard und zuletzt bis 2001 an der UC Santa Cruz, wo er auch Kurse in Musiktheater abhielt). Als Grund für seinen entgültigen Rückzug aus der Szene nannte er später die Verleihung des Friedensnobelpreises an Henry Kissinger, dadurch sei politische Satire obsolet geworden.
