Manuscript and first edition. Klinkowitz's comprehensive bibliography on Barthelme, covering his earliest works of 1948 through the end of 1976. Manuscript copy, presented to David Wheeler who has added corrections and annotations throughout. Additionally, a presentation copy of the first edition is included, with inscription to Wheeler: "For David Wheeler - who loves Barthelme enough to transform this staid bibliography into a novel of high passion." The bibliography is also signed by the subject, Barthelme, below Klinkowitz's inscription. A wonderful set detailing the works of the Houston author, an important figure in the postmodernist movement in literature. . 8.5x11," unpaginated, sheets from various sources of wastepaper. Reproduced from typescripts including that from Klinkowitz, as well as an essay, "The Houston Years," and expanded version of "A Barthelme Chronology," by Davis, only a condensed version of which is found in the published work. Wilson Jones metal hinge binding with red pressboard covers, typed label to front. Inscribed by Klinkowitz in January of 1978 to David Wheeler on the title sheet. Manuscript annotations and corrections, mainly to preface, but also scattered throughout. Light wear to pages, few brittle, else clean and sound.
