Seller: My Dead Aunt's Books, Hyattsville, MD, U.S.A.
First Edition
Condition: Good. First Edition. Unmarked hardcover, without jacket. Inscribed by DeCourcy W. Thom, one of the authors, in an absolutely beautiful hand. End paper is contained in the book but has separated from the binding, happily, the inscription is on the next leaf and so is unaffected. A stamp sized portion of the advertisement on the inside cover has been worn away. The end flyleaf has been folded inward as it is of a larger paper stock than the rest of the book and would otherwise protrude beyond the cover. Pages are otherwise clean and only have the occasional spotting on a few errant pages. Cover is in good condition with only light wear. Additional photographs available on request.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. [160pp, onionskin foldout table]: [vi], 154 (last two leaves blank); bound with printed endleaves in gilt fine grain chocolate linen, blocked black; 196 x 140 x 16 mm. First edition in English (originally 1860: Paris; second edition, 1889); subtitled "Englished and Edited with an Introductory Essay Setting Forth the Indications of Approaching Panic by DeCourcy W. Thom" (with his dedication dated 25 June 1892). Issued as Volume 75 in the publisher's Questions of the Day series (extending to volume 84 in the endleaf list). Very scarce Canadian issue, gilt-embossed on cover with the name of the Canadian distributor, "The Molsons Bank", & on spine with the numeral "9" (presumably the ninth title from the series with sufficient Canadian interest to warrant representation here). A lovely copy, only lightly rubbed at extremities. A scarce title (generally encountered with library stamps), approaching rarity in its Canadian issue.
