[ii], 25pp. James Scott Marshall (1913-1910) was a local minister of Leith from 1947 to 1990, when he settled in St Andrews. History was an interest that took him into research in many institutions and libraries, and he was invited to write the history of a number of institutions. Among these were the Vaults Leith, the Incorporation of Carters, North Leith Parish Church and the history of Leith Hospital "Leith's greatest charity. Over several years, he had books published on local history subjects, putting national Scottish history into a Leith perspective. He was History was an interest that took him into research in many institutions and libraries, and he was invited to write the history of a number of institutions. Among these were the Vaults Leith, the Incorporation of Carters, North Leith Parish Church and the history of Leith Hospital "Leith's greatest charity. He was acknowledged as Leith's historian, and elected a Golden Pillar of Leith in the celebration of South Leith Parish Church. This little book contains nine short tales of Leith, gathered from various sources. The book is staple-bound in the original brown card covers with black titling and an illustration on the front cover. The book is in very good condition with some shelf wear on the covers and the contents are tight and clean. There is a previous owner's blind-stamped library seal on the bottom corner of the first page (contents page).
