The plot centers around a Europeanized American man named Winterbourne, who meets a nouveau riche American woman going by the name Daisy Miller. A short novel, James wields the sword of fiction to craft a "study" of the roles of men and women, social relationships, cultural intersection, the allure of money, foolishness and wisdom, the responsibilities of parents, and the impact of one's life upon others. Henry James (1843-1916) was an American author who wrote in the genre of both literary realism and modernism and is best known for his novels "Portrait of a Lady" and "The Ambassadors"; his works examine the often inscrutable relationships between characters. "Daisy Miller" is a novella that deals with both the interior motives of the characters' psyches and the outward traditions and prejudices encountered in society. The announcement and prospectus are near fine, clean overall with some soiling to the creases, the announcement with a horizontal crease, the prospectus with both a horizontal and vertical crease, else fine.
