Jacobs Photo Shop was owned by Frank Jacobs (1881-1979), an American photojournalist and pioneer in the field of photography. "P. I. Building" refers to the "Post-Intelligencer Building" in Seattle, Washington. Jacobs was among the first photographers to be hired by the Post-Intelligence in 1909. While working as a part-time photojournalist, Jacobs also ran his photo business. Among his accomplishments was documenting the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition and being the first photographer to take aerial photos of Seattle. He also became well-known for documenting disaster scenes. Jacobs received much recognition for his talent and his photos were used by many news agencies in the United States and abroad.
