Hardcover. Condition: Good with no dust jacket. First Edition Thus. First edition thus. Black cloth with gold gilt spine lettering, Locke [A Spectrum of Fantasy, page 89 "Novelization of a mad-scientist film in which people are reduced to one fifth of their usual size. Note: This book is frequently blamed on Henry Kuttner, but I have seen no conclusive evidence to support that supposition. Kuttner did write a novelette version of the film for one of the pulp magazines at about the same time, which presumably accounts for his being blamed for the book as well, in spite of what I gather is strong stylistic evidence to the contrary"]. Bleiler [1978 Checklist, page 80]. Reginald 08491. Some light-colored staining to the fore-edge and faintly to a few small areas on the cloth, lightly corner bumped; not issued in Dust Wrapper bx68.

First Edition
First edition. Octavo, pp. [1-8] 9-255 [256: blank], original red cloth, front and spine stamped in black. Novelization of the 1940 film starring Albert Dekker as the ruthless and sadistic mad scientist in the Peruvian jungle who uses radioactivity to miniaturize living things, including a group of human beings who are reduced to one fifth of their natural size. "Not only is Dr. Cyclops a literate horror/sci-fi film with good animation and special effects; it is also filmed in Technicolor, something unheard of for such a low-budget film at that time." - Parish & Pitts, The Great Science Fiction Pictures, pp. 104-105. The novel, often attributed to, but not by, Henry Kuttner, was perhaps written by Alexander Samalman. Kuttner did write a shorter magazine version from the film script which was published in THRILLING WONDER STORIES, June 1940. Tanning and offsetting to edges of end papers and paste downs, some abrasions to rear end paper from the jacket being having originally been glued down, a very good copy with clean contents in a fair jacket, the jacket has been backed with brown paper, the jacket is laminated and the lower third of the front panel is advert for "Joe's Bookshop & Library" and the entire rear panel is advert also, red tape trims the upper and lower edges of the jacket. It is quite a shame as it appears the original jacket was in quite decent shape. A facsimile jacket is also included. (26893).
