Couverture souple. Condition: Assez bon. 2ème Édition. 240 pages, petit nom de propriétaire en page de faux-titre, plats de couverture défraîchis.
Condition: Very Good. Stampless letter written to George W. Anderson of Hamilton, New York from E. T. Hiscox of Unadilla Forks, New York, both Baptist ministers. Letter is dated Dec. 11th 1841. Letter is written in a fairly clear hand. Letter has light soiling and 1 x 1 ½" piece is missing where wax was affixed, affecting content. This letter was written by Baptist minister and theologian Edward Thurston Hiscox to his colleague Rev. George W. Anderson. Hiscox was a distinguished Baptist theologian who published foundational works of the modern Baptist Church including "Standard Manual of Baptist Churches" (1890) and "New Directory for Baptist Churches" (1894). Anderson received a degree of Doctor of Divinity from Lewisburg University and became book editor of the American Baptist Publication Society. It seems that Anderson and Hiscox were members of the same (likely religious) society and this is the subject of the letter. Hiscox writes "I hope our society will go on and be prosperous [I] have by no means forgotten it and shall be glad [when] I may again enjoy the privilege of meeting with it. Remember me affectionately to our members." Hiscox also writes " I shall be wholly unable to take any part in the public debate on account of a want to time to prepare; my time is so entirely occupied that I should find it probably impossible to give the attention to the subject necessary." ; 8" x 10" ; 1 pp.
