Joseph Wesley Harper Jr. (1830-1896) was the son of Joseph Wesley Harper (1801-1870), one of the founding brothers of Harper and Brothers Publishing. H. W. Harper Jr had a long career with Harper and Brothers. In this letter to A. Lyle White, publisher of the "Republican", Harper writes that he will add the "Republican" to the Harper's magazine Exchange List. Harper also writes that he is looking forward to receiving a photograph of a General Canby from White (likely General Edward Canby, 1817-1873). Letter has been folded. Letter is clean.
