Book is tight, square, and unmarked bur for explanation on FFFP of how the previous owner acquired the book. Book Condition: Good; moisture stains on cloth boards; scattered spotting to textblock edges. No DJ. Blue cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on spine and front board. Laid in compliments card from the authors with book. 119 pp 8vo. This is a privately published book from the family of Hiram Hadley commemorating his life and accomplishments and his funeral and memorial services. A Quaker educator, Hadley came West with his son for health issues and arrived in the Mesilla Valley of New Mexico in 1887 and the next year with local help established the Las Cruces College which when merged with the Agricultural College in 1890 became the New Mexico Agricultural and Mechanical Arts College under the Morrill Act and was given land grant status. Hadley was the first president of the college and in office until 1894. A pioneer educator in the state he is buried in Las Cruces, NM. A clean presentable copy.
