Hardcover. Condition: As New. David Eccles (illustrator). The Folio Society published this set of five 'As New' condition hardbacks with its 'Fine' condition slip case in the UK in 1998. Each of the volumes was written by a leading historian with expertise in the subject. The titles of the books are: (i) The Birth of the Middle Ages 395-814; (ii) The Crucible of the Middle Ages, the Ninth and Tenth Centuries in European History; (iii) The Making of the Middle Ages' (iv) The High Middle Ages 1150-1309; and (v) The Waning of the Middle Ages The books are all bound with full green or red cloth with a design in purple and gold by the artist David Eccles. The Dark Green slip case is patterned in purple and gold with the same design used on the binding. There are colour plates in each volume, showing manuscripts, statuary, bas-reliefs, buildings and artefacts. The spine titles and front cover design are in gilt. The size of the slip-cased set in inches is 9.3 high x 7.3 depth x 7.8 width. The set weighs circa 5.0 kg. As with all our sales of books within the UK, we only ever charge a flat standard delivery cost of £3.35.
