Hardcover. Condition: Good+. An attractive edition presenting these often-cited Biblical passages, taken from the Authorized King James Version. With decorations on most every page by Valenti Angelo and an introduction by Robert Gordis. Sandglass leaflet laid in (NY, no. vii: 29). --- The volume is bound in the double fold technique (sometimes called Japanese fold or French fold) in which the tops of the pages are not severed by the knife from adjoining leaves and all printing is on the outsides of these uncut leaves. In full navy leatherette-covered boards with Angelo illustration in gilt on cover, gilt-stamped titling on spine. In gold paper-covered slipcase. Unpaginated (about 110 pages). --- The leatherette covering on the spine has been torn away at various spots, leaving a covering on about 85% of the spine; otherwise a bright, tightly-bound, sound copy. Structurally sound slipcase with small tears and scratches, else in good shape.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; [c.110 pp] pages.

Hardcover. Condition: very good to near fine. First edition thus. Octavo. Printed on unnumbered folded double leaves (116)pp. Red leather, spine lettered in gilt, and gilt device on front cover. Housed publisher's beveled edge red cardboard slipcase, all edges covered in gold paper. Each page of text outlined in red, and within a decorative blue floral border. Title page with a round device printed in brown. Edition limited to 1500 numbered copies (this is #1363) decorated and set by hand by the artist Valenti Angelo, and signed by him on the limitation leaf. Spine & beveling very lightly sunned. Text in English. Library donation stamp on end papers and half-title as well as several text leaves. But for these stamps (and priced accordingly) this would be a near fine copy.
