Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Leslie Goldstein / Lilian Obligado. (illustrator). 62 pp & 94 pp - 2 volumes - 9 3/8" H. B&w illustrations. 1. The Strange Disappearance of Mr. Toast - inscribed on front free endpaper in red ink: "For Lesley / from / Stuart Brent" - First edition, 1964 - "Mr. Toast was a golden retriever, and the Brent family was his personal responsibility. He never failed to devote his full time and attention to his duties, rounding up lost children, patiently accepting Baby Joe's hugs and kisses, even settling quarrels between the younger children with a few cuffs of a firm but gentle paw. (After the family arrives at Bark Point for their summer holiday), suddenly Mr. Toast was nowhere to be found! Had he arrived with them? Had he leaped out of the car to go off chasing rabbits as soon as the car door was opened? No one was sure. Where could Mr.Toast be?" 2. Mr. Toast and the Woolly Mammoth - inscribed on front free endpaper in red ink: "For Lesley / from / Stuart Brent / with Appreciation" - Third printing, 1966 - Exploring a quarry, two of the eldest Brent boys "reached a point where a landslide gave way under them, tossing them violently to the bottom" where Mr. Toast "proceeded to discover what was undoutedly the biggest bone of his life! The story of the unearthing of a prehistoric monster by the entire Brent family makes for exciting and enlightening reading." Very minor edge rubbing. Dust jackets have very light edge wear with one or two tiny edge tears, some light browinng on inside of spine of book 1 and very light browning on inside of spine of book 2. Dust jackets are protected in mylar sleeves. Inscribed By Author.
