Original publisher's black cloth lettered silver on spine. Illustrated dust jacket lettered in red and white on spine and upper cover. Russell Hoban's copy with his name and address and 'Return ASAP' handwritten on front free endpaper. Pencil reference to p. 94, a passage that describes Merian C. Cooper, the director of the film, experimenting with a giant hand while getting his secretary to sit in the open palm. Three stills (25.5 x 20.5 cm) taken from the film and featuring King Kong loosely inserted. Russell Hoban (libretto) collaborated with Harrison Birtwhistle (music) on an opera in two acts entitled, 'The Second Mrs Kong' which was first staged in 1994, involving mock-classical characters, King Kong, a dead Hollywood producer and his wife, and Vermeer and his real Girl with a Pearl Earring.' Russell Hoban (1925-2011) American novelist and children's author lived in London. Dust jacket rubbed at edges and a little torn at head of spine. 0498015106 Slight wear to dust jacket, otherwise very good.
