Beige coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip and self embossed publisher's logo to the front panel. Purple coloured tint to the top textblock edge. Illustrated dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The first edition of this book was printed in 1788. The life of an English countrymen in the the 18th century, with emphasis on the natural environment. Everyman's Library number 48. Softening of the back strip edges and rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. The front panel has started to bow. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages. Dustwrapper is not in great shape  please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and lower back strip edge with various pieces missing from the top edge of the rear panel and to the top edge of the back strip. Small pieces missing from the lower right hand corner of the dustwrapper and lower edge of the front panel. Sunning of the back strip with lighter sunning to the dustwrapper panels.
