Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Signed, Limited Edition. SIGNED. LIMITED EDITION, 1900. TWO VOLUMES, COMPLETE. This large-paper edition is limited to 160 copies, of which this is number 97. Signed by the editor and artists on the limited edition page on the verso of the flytitle page. Hardcover. Bound in absolutely beautiful cream vellum with a color embellishment in royal blue, gilt, red and green stamped on the cover. Red lettering on the spine with gilt crest. Top edge gilt. Deckled foredge and foot. Red and black title page. Illustrated throughout with fifty lovely plate engravings in black and white, protected by a translucent, titled leaf. Other smaller engravings are also found within the text, printed on what appears to be a tissue or india paper and affixed to the page. Both volumes contain a frontispiece, with the portrait of Volume I being colored in a peach monochrome. Text is centered on each page, with wide margins (2.25" at the foredge). Both volumes contain a list of full-page and smaller illustrations, as well as appendices. Volume II contains a bibliography and is indexed. Volume I, xxiii, 427 pp. Volume II, xv, 443 pp., plus errata. On a shelf, this set spans 6 inches. The vellum has been preserved beautifully, and is quite smooth. Only light wear is present on the covers with minor soiling. The front joint at the foot is starting with cracks of 1/2 inch on Volume I and 1 inch in the same place on Volume II, yet all other joints are intact. Inner hinges are firmly attached and bindings are tight. There is a crack at the gutter at the list of illustrations page, but it has not compromised the integrity of the binding. There are some illustrations which are missing the titled protective cover. At over 11 lbs. with shipping materials, an additional shipping charge will likely apply. Full refund if not satisfied.
