Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Original publisher's beige wrapper. 5 3/4" x 9 1/4." Eight pages, complete. Blue stamp in lower-right margin of front cover: "California State Library, California Section." In pencil above it, also in the margin is the word, "dup" [duplicate]. A very clean and intact copy. A pamphlet with an address made before the California Commonwealth Club by California preacher D. M. Gandier, who promotes "Amendments 1 and 2," which would enact the complete prohibition of alcohol in 1920 and limit the sale of alcohol in 1918, respectively. Gandier uses several points to support prohibition under titles such as the following: "Unfits for Parenthood," "Enriches the Few," "Prohibition Not Wrong in Principle," "Personal and Civil Liberty," "Right to Prohibit Liquor Traffic," "Prohibition Desirable," "Moral Backbone Required," "Law-Defying Institution," "Struggle in Kansas," "All for Prohibition Now," "Misuse of Statistics," "Major Blethen's Testimony," "Spokane Chronicle Converted," Food for Babies; Smiles for Homes," "'Oregonian' in Line," "Workmen for Prohibition," "Succeeds in Portland," "Business Men for Prohibition," "Pacific Coast 'Dry,'" and "Prohibition Sweeping Country.".
