Bruno and Liesl Frank came from Germany to America when Hitler was "first becoming perceptable" writes Sinclair Lewis, and they settled in Los Angeles among other accomplished writers. This novel is a reprint of Frank's early German edition. It is written with humor of the earlier age of Frederick II. The illustrations are copies of the original woodplates by a few technical generations; and there are many depictions.
