Condition: Good. 1955. Edited & revised. 212 pages. Brown dust jacket with lettering over black cloth. Contains black and white illustrations. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Boards are slightly bowed with water marks. Clipped jacket has light edge-wear with minor tears and chipping. Moderate tanning and creasing, with rubbing and marking.

Flat bottom, shallow draft, sailing scows were vital to NZ's transport system from the latter 1800s to well into the 1900s. Eaddy, who sailed in many of these craft made a fine contribution to NZ maritime history when his book was first published in 1939, when many scows were still in service, now mostly with motors also. He tells the tale of these ships well, having been there, done that. 193 pages, 18 b/w photos. Light blue hard covers lightly grubby with few marks, bumps to spine extremities, corners. Text block excellent, former owners stamp top title page and top forward page.
