Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 271 pp. First edition. Dmitry Sergeevich Dudko (1922-2004) - clergyman, writer and poet, lived in the USSR. From a review of the book by Rev. A. Knyazev, rector of the Orthodox Theological Institute in Paris: The publication of priest Dmitry Dudko s book *On Our Hope* is a major event. The book testifies to the power of living religious thought and the authenticity of spiritual interest in modern Russia. . Where anti-religious lies tear a person away from Christ and the Church, the book of O. D. Dudko can lead a serious reader to the possibility and even necessity of faith. And where, in the element of insufficiently appreciated and meaningful freedom, a person becomes religiously indifferent, the book of O. D. Dudko will return to the essence of Christian hope, to evidence of true faith. The book mainly contains conversations with Father Dmitry, which he conducted in 1974. These conversations were published from the notes of listeners. The conversations were held in the St. Nicholas Church, which is near the Preobrazhenskoe cemetery (in Moscow), where father Dmitry served for more than fifteen years, until the day when he began to suffer punishments and punishments taken against him by the hierarchy, which once again yielded under pressure from the authorities. The eleventh and twelfth conversations were spoken at home, at the insistence of the listeners, after the patriarch forbade him to continue the conversations. The texts of the conversations are preceded by an introductory speech by Fr. Dmitry, addressed to parishioners, whom he invited to ask him questions anonymously , without indicating his name on the notes, on a variety of topics relating to faith, the Church, Christ. And the conversation closes with *The Last Word*, spoken at the all-night vigil, after prohibitions to continue conversations, as well as a number of attachments, including documents on the case brought against Fr. Dmitry by the church authorities, a fragment of an article by Krasnov-Levitin, where the author shows the uncanonical nature of the system of appointing bishops and patriarchs, adopted in the modern Russian Church under pressure from the regime, and to the question - what to do? responds with a call to remain in the Church.".
