    Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Hales, J. Rulon [1899-1986] (illustrator). 1st Edition. SIGNED ON THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER as follows: "Sincerely yours, | Howard R. Driggs." 8vo. [10]1-101p. Color frontispiece photo plus 227 (!) black and white captioned photos, mostly of individual persons and two black and white maps of Pleasant Grove, one a fold-out map. Black and white drawings by J. Rulon Hales, throughout the text. Maroon cloth with gilt letters on the spine. Just touches of wear to extremities, one corner ever so lightly bumped, cloth clean and bright, gilt bright (!), previous owner's pencil signature (Frances Wels [?]), else fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket has a couple of tears but is most all there. Born in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Howard Roscoe Driggs (1873-1963) taught English at the University of Utah and New York University, was the author or editor of more than 50 books, including, but not limited to, subjects ranging from Utah and Mormon history, pioneer trails, and the Pony Express. Driggs also wrote the following: WESTWARD AMERICA, THE PONY EXPRESS GOES THROUGH, BEN THE WAGON BOY, MORMON TRAIL, and THE MASTER'S ART. John Rulon Hales (1899-1986) illustrated several of Driggs's books and made maps for the American Pioneer Trails Association. Signed by Author(s).
