Another mass market paperback bearing the fabulous cover art of illustrator Edward Gorey; though it is nowhere attributed in the book, his distinctive art is easy to spot on these books, & verified per the definitive Toledano bibliography. Content-wise, the book is comprised of 34 chapters of critical commentary on each of Shakespeare's plays, & 1 on his poems, by noted Columbia professor Mark Van Doren. Orig. published in 1939, this is the First Anchor Edition (A-11) with the Gorey cover art (First, Thus) from 1953 (nd in book). Condition is only Good, downgraded primarily due to a small area of sticker pull at the top right corner of the cover illustration of the caste; moderate edgewear all around.
