Hardcover: H 23cm x L 15.75cm. No dust jacket (i.e. lacking). Dark cloth rubbed with a few spots of light discoloration; gilt stamping to spine and front board remains bright; fraying at spine ends and along boards' bottom edges; slight wear to bumped board corners. Text block edges and endpapers toned; varying bumping to leaves' bottom fore-edge corners; interior text leaves are mostly clean. Binding is firm. Pencil signature "Champ Clark" on front free endpaper (matches other examples found online) and presumably his personal copy. Democrat politician Champ Clark served in the United States House of Representatives from 1893-1921 and was Speaker of the House from 1911-1919. Clark sought the presidency in 1912 but lost in his party's nomination voting to Woodrow Wilson at the Democratic National Convention.
