The cover has orange cloth, black lettering, a green and black illustration of a low flying, small airplane. The stories are grouped in six parts: Men and Women in Action, World Neighbors, The World's Work, Open Country, The Land We Live In, and Leaves from Famous Stories. Four plates of color illustrations; 1/4 to full-page b/w illustrations; glossary. The front endpaper has an owner's name and address. The text block ends have tanned. DJ: The front and spine panels have "Facts and Fiction" and has "For Children Ten to Fourteen" on the spine panel. The flaps have summaries of Fact and Story Readers, Books 6, 7, 8. The front panel has an illustration of a rocket flying by a planet. The white on the spine panel has darkened to brown. The white on the front panel has tanned. Three closed tears are 1/8 in. to 1/2 in. Each end of one fold has a 1/8 in. chip. The folds have color loss from shelf wear rubbing. Scans e-mailed upon request.
