He reminds us of: mailed in box-tops, Miss Bernice Bowne, literary competitions, sponsors, the formation of clubs to compete, advertising, Gilson V. Willets, and the Red Mitten Technique. 12 b/w photographs of v.i.p.'s in the CONTEST INDUSTRY complement the text. BONUS : Laid-in brochure addressed to `Prize Contest Hobbyists'. Cond : Boards are red with gilt lettering on spine and face. D.J. (not price-clipped) is also red with black and red and white lettering. Cover graphic is a blank contest entry sheet surrounded by envelopes, coupons to clip, prize money and the like. Volume is tight, BRIGHT and clean in all aspects. White-end papers have a long gift inscr. (1959) including ` By putting P before LUCK .'. No marks in text. D.J. has v. light wear at top (and bottom) edge. Spines both fine with v. minor tatters on d.j. spine top and tail. CLEAN. Colours not faded. Very collectible !! Quote (p. 129) : " . in contests for over ten years and in club work since 1940. One of her exciting prizes was for a Burma-Shave jingle, which she later saw displayed on a fence while driving along a California highway. " Size: 12mo.
