Presentation inscription 'From the Author, Jan 19, 1969' at front top. E.A. Buck, pastor in Slatersville RI 1838-1846; in Stonington CT 1847-1866. Includes a Tribute to local benefactress, Ruth Slater ?who died at Slatersville, RI, 1867, aged 83? credited as a founder of the town; Appendix lists local men who died in the recent Civil War. Edwin Augustus Buck (1824-1903) is noted also for his support for another local, Lizzie Borden, who was famously tried for the murder of her parents and acquitted.
