Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. Two title pages dated 1900. One volume in the seven-volume illustrated Haworth Edition of the Life and Works of Charlotte Bronte and Her Sisters. Introduction by Mrs. Humphry Ward. "Emma, A Fragment of a Story by Charlotte Brontė" with an introduction by William Makepeace Thackeray follows at the end of The Professor. Publisher's green-cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Gilt-covered top edge. Dark-blue endpapers. Eleven full-page b/w illustrations, including frontispiece protected with tissue and facsimile reproductions of the title pages from the first editions. (xvii) + 546 text pages + 10 pages publisher ads. Thick and heavy volume measuring 8 1/8" x 6" x 1 3/4". In NEAR FINE condition. Bright and very clean exterior with no sunning. Gilt lettering is bright and unworn. A few slight touches of surface wear. Bottom corners slightly curled inward. Tightly bound and square with strong, secure hinges with no cracking. Excellent interior. The protective tissue covering the frontispiece is partially loose but not the frontispiece illustration itself which is tightly bound. Bright, clean, flawless pages and plates. No previous owner markings.

This is a large heavier book, shipping costs will be slightly higher than the basic standard quote for a one kilo book.
