Cloth. Condition: Very good +. 531 p. 19 cm. 6 b&w illustrations and one colour fold-out map. Includes plans of the battles of Fish Creek, Cut Knife Hill, and Batoche. Green cloth hardcover with gold impressing. Slight spine lean. Spine end softened. Small mark on rear and tiny worn spot on front hinge. Boulton was the commander of a cavalry unit known as Boulton's Scouts. The Scouts played a major role in the battle at Fish Creek and led the main Canadian force on its march to Batoche. Apparently Boulton hoped to capitalize on his military accomplishments by quickly publishing this account of his activities; he then lobbied the federal government for patronage. Boulton s repeated requests for a suitable appointment proved unsuccessful, a bitter disappointment for a man who felt that his military service deserved recognition. One of the appendices in this book gives a complete list of the officers and men in the North West Field Force which suppressed the rebellion. Peel (3) 1347.
