First Edition
Cloth. Condition: Very Good. none (illustrator). First edition. An intriguing copy of the Stealing of the Mare, translated and written by an interesting couple. Lady Anne was fluent in French, German, Spanish, Italian and Arabic and translated this poem from the original Arabic into English. Her husband then wrote the translated English into verse. The 'Stealing of the Mare' is one tale written by the largely unknown Abu Zeyd which has remained popular in Egypt and North Africa for over 800 years. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. There is some fading and bumping to the boards and spine. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages with the odd scattered spot throughout.
