Illustrated with numerous black and white captioned images, including black and white mile-by-mile maps. Tuttle]; End Notes; Sources; Index; and blurb about the author and other books he has written. Color photo pictorial wrappers printed with black letters on the front cover and the spine and with a vignette on the front cover looking west from the Wyoming-Montana border and a photo on the back cover of Devil Canyon along the Wyoming-Montana border. Just hints of wear to extremities, ever so slight crease on lower right corner of rear wrapper, else fine with no internal markings and all internal images in fine condition--truly remarkable condition given its fragility and size! Born in Powell in northern Wyoming, Bruce H. Blevins moved with his family to Cheyenne, WY, Helena, MT, and Dubois, WY and during those years made many visits to the Beartooth Mountains along the Wyoming-Montana border. During his college career at Montana State University, Bozeman, Blevins did field work for the United States Geological Survey working out of Dubois, WY. Blevins spent a summer surveying for a road with the Bureau of Public Roads (now Department of Transportation) in eastern Montana; a summer doing field work for the U. S. Geological Survey in western Wyoming for the first 7.5 minute maps of the area; and helping civil engineering college students with their surveying courses. He spent his career as a civilian mathematician and manager with the Department of Defense in Maryland after which he retired to the Wyoming-Montana border area near the Beartooth Mountains. He started researching and writing regional history books about subjects in the area of Yellowstone, Wyoming and/or Montana which resulted in eleven books. This is just an extraordinary book about the Wyoming-Montana border area by a knowledgeable expert who spent major portions of his life in the area. Other books by Blevins include the following: EARLY HISTORY, RED LODGE MT; PARK COUNTY, WYOMING; MAPPING YELLOWSTONE; BIG HORN COUNTY, WYOMING; and BEARTOOTH HIGHWAY EXPERIENCES. Signed by Author(s).
