Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Charles E. Brock (illustrator). 5th or later Edition. 12mo in original red cloth boards; all edges may once have been stained green. Frontispiece portrait in color from a painting by Charles E. Brock (1870-1938), who reportedly landed his first commission in 1890. The eight additional internal plates are unsigned B&W engravings. Lists previous titles by this author (uniform at 2s. 6d each) through "Tales from the Telling House" (1895) but this is later -- sometimes listed as 1918, which sounds about right. The 1951 Hollywood adaptation starred Barbara Hale (Della Street) and Richard Greene (Robin Hood), while Maurice Tourneur directed an earlier, 1922 silent version starring Madge Bellamy.
