Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. pp: 149. Pictorial dust jacket, green boards over gray cloth covered spine, mapped endpapes, and colour frontispiece. There are thirty-two additional illustrations (mostly in colour) throughout the text. It has only been during the latter part of the twentieth century that indigenous art has been accepted by Western critics as art that is on a par with, but divergent from, western concepts. This biography displays the life work of an artist of the Hopi of Southwestern United States. As they have no written language, true storytellers who work with words or pictures, retell the history of the Hopi. This is a very good copy in dust jacket. The jacket is only just very good. There is a two-inch piece missing from the base of the rear panel. Elsewhere, the jacket has moderate edge wear, chipping at the spine ends, and some soiling. Neither book or jacket is normally what I would consider collectible, but the book is scarce and, therefore, worth listing. All this is visible in the photograph next to the listing.
