Some soiling to the pages with a loss along the fore edge of the front free endpaper. Owner's inscription on front pastedown and verso of rear endpaper. Barton p. 210 (Pictus Orbus). 57 pp.

Contains both The Story of Little Black Sambo and The Story of Topsy form Uncle Tom's Cabin, each illustrated by John Neill. Illustrated endpapers. 12mo. 57 pp. Plus a page ad for Oz books. From the Children's Red Books series, includes both Little Black Sambo and the Story of Topsy. Filled with John R. Neill's magical illustrations that are by today's standards certainly not PC. Pages: clean, bright, tight, decorative color eps, color frontis; .one page has 2" tear, some others have tiny edge tears, occasional foxing, period gift inscription to sfep. Cover: red paper over boards, color artwork + white titles front; substantial shelfwear, extrems well worn, paper covering spine and adjacent are of boards is lost, with portions of text gone as well and crash showing through. Internals very nice, boards not so much. Scarce.
