Seller: Cat's Curiosities, Pahrump, NV, U.S.A.
Book
Soft cover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Illustrated in red & blue by Vera Stone Norman (illustrator). Ex-school library showing "Department of Public Instruction / Nevada County / State of California / North Blloomfield Dist. Library" rubber-stamps to blank verso of both endpapers, one with the hand-written notation "Prior to Sept. 1935." Copyright 1929 but possibly as late as 1931. Some staining to rear wrap. As there is no blank rear endpaper, it's likely this was a 64-page booklet and that the final sheet is missing. (If complete, we would grade this copy "good" -- which is to say "not very good; well worn.") Both authors were with the National College of Education, Evanston. The "Toots ran. The cat ran" dumbing-down of the reading curriculum was already well underway, by this point. 62 pp. Reduced from $15.

Seller: Mountain Gull Trading Company, Lake Hopatcong, NJ, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 387 Pages. This is a classic child's school reader book full of stories and study hints at the end of each. The book's exterior has worn areas on the top and side edges, and especially along the bottom edge and on its four corners. Someone in the past, placed some heavy-duty clear tape on its spine to help hold the book together and protect the spine. The interior book has some pages with repaired tears, some pages with pieces missing (the first two pages and lots of stained pages, (probably from child reading with staining liquids on their fingers and lastly has some writing on the first page in from the front cover and ink staining on those two pages also. Outside of these detriments, all of the book's printing is in a preserved and enjoyable condition and there are very few written marks or notes on the book's pages. The book's bindings are beginning to separate but still are in quite tight shape. If you should order this classic old children's reader from us, it will be carefully wrapped up, padded, and then boxed and sent right away to you with both tracking and insurance and comes with our genuine appreciation for your order.
