Hardcover. Condition: Very good. First Edition. The green cloth cover of this book has the title and author on the front as well as a drawing of some sailing barges. The top and bottom of the spine are slightly worn but not damaged.The book is slightly cocked and inside there is one gutter crack - but the pages are not lying loose.There is evidence of further minor 'cracking' of the binding in several places but none have caused pages to detach. On the front paste down endpaper there is a bookplate (see photo) and on the FEP there is the embossed stamp of W.H.Smith & Son Library Strand, but no other signs of library use. There are some spots on the endpapers - see photo. iv, 268pp. This book is a collection of essays concerning different topics mostly to do with London and environs, but some are for places further afield such as Medway and Portsmouth.
First edition (hardback). 8vo, iv, 268pp. Original decorated green cloth, gilt titling to the spine. Boards a little rubbed, preliminary pages foxed, ownership blindstamp to the front free endpaper. Overall, this copy is in good to very good condition.

A humorous lock to lock boating trip, with details of each lock, accommodation, etc., as chapter headings. An owner has written in pencil on the fep 'The inspiration cribbed by Jerome K. Jerome for "Three Men in a Boat" which given the style and content I think is very likely.
