Book has been rebound by library, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with slight dog-eared pages throughout and there is cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Sticker with pen inscriptions to front endpaper as well. Boards have mild rubbing and mild bumping to corners. Soft crushing to spine ends as well.

A collection of humorous short stories, some with a nautical aspect. Alfred Walter Barrett [ 1869 - c1933 ] journalist & author who published many books using the pseudonym R Andom. He was taken to court in June 1921 and found guilty of conspiring to corrupt public morals - he had published a lonely hearts magazine intended to allow lonely peiple find friendship. Some found more than that, the judge, in sentencing Barrett said - 'There can be no graver attack on the morals of this country than to establish a paper as you did for the purpose of allowing men and women to commit immorality.' This was Barrett's last published work - the hard labour to which he was sentenced perhaps sealing his fate. 300 grams.
