Hardcover, 15cms x 22cms (5¾" x 8¾"), with dust jacket 272 pages This unsophisticated young lady, with no interest in formal education, was to build a name for herself as a landscape architect, and later to be drawn into work for children by the injustices she saw them enduring. She was happily married to Clifford Allen, pacifist, socialist and internationalist, who helped her clarify and present her ideas. Her campaign led to the passing of the Children Act of 1948 in the U.K. Lady Allen also worked tirelessly for handicapped children. Book includes 40 b&w photographs. Ours is an ex-library copy with usual library markings. GOOD book in GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
