Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Welcome to our small, family-owned bookstore. Very Good for its age, this well-known Henry F. Cary (c. 1880) translation of Dante' s classic is published by Crown Publishers, 1925. The corners of the covers show some bruising. The covers and backstrip have some light stains. The backstrip shows some wear at top, edges, and bottom, and also the gilt title and names are quite faded. The embossed insignia on the front cover is barely visible. The first 27 pages have some underlining and notes, but they end there. There is a previous owner's name-stamp inside the front cover, and some marks on the flyleaf. When we first received this volume, the cover hinges were broken, but they have been excellently repaired by Monk's Bookbinding. Dore's illustrations are bright and clear. Packaged using bubble wrap and a sturdy cardboard box. Tracking number provided for no extra cost. Thanks for checking out this book from our small town brick-and-mortar and supporting a small business.

Hardcover. Condition: Poor. Magnificent, but NOT in good shape. The gorgeous oversized Dore' engravings may make your eyes tear. Unfortunately for us, this book has been MUCH LOVED and worn to show it. this is a candidate for re-binding, (or, heavens forbid, and say you did not read it here, for framing) as the cover is split loose, but the bindery stitching has held up rather well. Rubbing, tearing, chipping, fraying, with some foxing to pages. Gilt top. Page after page of large-format engravings, each with protective tissue. Please note: Due to the weight of this tome, overseas shipping will be considerably more than the quoted ABE price. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Cassell and Company, ca 1900. 183 pp. Folio illustrated with Gustave Dore's pictures. Gilt illustrated boards. Hardcover. Some rubbing/loss of gilt to cover. Gutters starting/cracking. Internally good with clean, unmarked pages. Ships daily.
