Book First Edition
Green Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. "1st Edition". Green Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. "1st Edition". Hardback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 145 pages; illustrated with graphs, tables, and small photos of the 14 contributors; Foreword by Howard Phillips, President , TPI; from the Foreword: "The Texas Policy Institute was formed in mid-1981 as a new voice in national security matters. We hope to speak boldly and with authority on these matters which will assure the survival of the United States as a free nation. The Texas Policy Institute insists that America is in grave danger, and intends that our nation by saved, be restored to a position of strategic dominance." From the (c) pages: "Texas Policy Institute" is a tax-exempt, non-profit educational and research organization concerned with national defense." The book's main premise is that the U.S.S.R. is far ahead of the U.S. militarily, and essays are written that attack this situation. Five retired Generals and an Admiral, three Congressmen and Sen. Jesse Helms and Sen John G. Tower are contributors. I belive in about seven years the U.S.S.R. went more ore less broke trying to keep up with us, but TPI wasn't the only one in the dark--so was counter-intelligence. Book condition: Book cover corners and spine extremeties show a small amount of rubbing.
