Charmingly illustrated paper covered boards with black cloth spine. Back panel has list of Books by Ruth Krauss. Grr-r-r on (unnumbered) page 21. The dust jacket is price-clipped but the front inside flap is marked with 30-70 and the back flap "About the Author and Artist" does not include the reference to The Wonderful Farm. So this is at least a second state book in a second state dust jacket. A few smudges on the board panels. Lower-most board edges are scuffed. Upper back fore-edge corner tipped is rubbed through. One small margin smudge else book is internally clean. Text block is snug. Dust jacket is soiled overall. Several small damp stains on front panel; small stains and a bit of overall grubbiness on the back jacket panel. Spine and fore-edge folds are scuffed, heavily on the lower ends and with several rub-throughs at the tail of spine. Upper edge at head of jacket spine is rubbed and chipped and with closed vertical tears of 3/8" and 1/4" on the front and back corners. The upper edge of back panel has a slightly diagonal 1" closed tear toward the upper right corner. The lower right front fore-edge corner has a closed 3/4" closed vertical tear along the fold and with adjacent rubs; the other three fore-edge corners are rubbed and with minimal loss. The upper edge of front panel has a few small closed vertical tear of 1/4" or less, with adjacent rubs, chips and creases; the upper edge of back panel has one 1/4" closed vertical tear near the upper left corner. Both corners of the front inside flap have been clipped- see photo. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition descriptions. There is some beginning foxing and toning to the top rear cover of the book, along with some beginning bumping to the spine ends and corners. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket is mostly clean and bright with some noticeable toning / sunning to the spine and rear cover, along with an inch long semi-closed tear to the top front spine joint. The top spine of the dust jacket has been nicked off and there is some rubbing / creasing to the spine as well. This book was the winner of the 1st New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book Award.
