Hardcover with dust jacket. Condition: Good/Good DJ. 5 3/4" x 8 1/2" tall. 216 pages. Blue cloth. Numbers "0085" written in ink on rear endpaper otherwise square, close to tight, unmarked copy with clean off-white pages, would grade VG with a VG dust jacket but a piece of clear tape connects the flaps of dust jacket to each inside cover, removing the tape could cause tear to paper on endpapers. Dust jacket has a 1/2 inch and 1/4th inch tear on upper back panel edge, other light edge wear with 1/8th inch tear on bottom spine end. Fairly scarce. States First Published in 1977 and no subsequent printings listed so First Edition.

Blue cloth, white lettering to upper board and spine, frontispiece, three other black and white plates, chapter heading illustrations. Light bumpring to extremities, some fading of spine lettering. Author's first novel, set in the Caroline Islands. Dwyer was born in Camden, New South Wales, Australia. He commenced writing after he was sentenced for fraud in 1899. He wrote for the Bulletin and other journals and "was befriended by a coterie of writers, including Victor Daley, Roderic Quinn and Albert Dorrington." [Source: Australian Dictionary of Biography, 1981]. He went to England in 1906 and then America where he became a successful writer of novels and short stories.
