About the Author:

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, was founded in 2004. Its mission is to "Educate and inspire current and future generations of leaders to raise the standards of governance in Asia, improve the lives of its people and contribute to the transformation of the region." It has sought to fulfil its mission through its teaching programmes, its research, and its outreach to the community as well as to international audiences and partners. Now in its tenth year, the School offers four Masters programmes and a doctoral programme, produces a broad range of high-quality research pertaining to Asia and global governance, and engages policy makers in Singapore and abroad. The School is home to four research centres — the Asia Competitiveness Institute, the Centre on Asia and Globalisation, the Institute of Policy Studies, and the Institute of Water Policy. It attracts students from Singapore, the rest of Asia, and the world, and its faculty come from Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. As Asia rises, the School is committed to serving as a window into public policy and governance in the world's largest continent and as a gateway to global best practices.
