About the Author:

CM Woon holds a master’s degree in law and is a professor at the Faculty of Law, at the National University of Singapore. He received his tertiary education at the National University of Singapore and Cambridge University, England. Currently on secondment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is Singapore’s ambassador to the European Communities, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the Holy See. From 1990 to 1994, he was a nominated member of Singapore’s Parliament and is the only person to have ever successfully introduced a piece of legislation as a non-member of the ruling party, the PAP. He was previously also director on the boards of Intraco Ltd and Natsteel Ltd. Woon’s first novel was “The Advocate’s Devil”. His other major published works include “Company Law”, “The Companies Act of Singapore”, “The Companies Act of Malaysia” and “Basic Business Law in Singapore. He was also editor of and contributor to “The Legal System of Singapore”.
