About the Author:
Augusto Monterroso (Guatemala, 1921) was born of a Honduran mother and Guatemalan father. In 1944, he was exiled to Mexico from Guatemala, and it has been in Mexico that he has written his award-winning fiction essays. He wan the prestigious Premio Cervantes of 2000.
