ABOUT THE BOOK:- The present book is an outcome of the in-depth study of the backward communities and backward classes in India through the primary and secondary sources. The authors of the book have made an attempt to go through the genesis of the emergence of backward classes in India and also have discussed various backward communities in general in India. Special attempt has been made to look into the backward classes in Assam. The government policy related to backward communities has also been analysed in this book. K A, ABOUT THE AUTHOR:- Pulak Chandra Dev nath , M. A . (Education), M.Phil, has been working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, Government Kamalanagar College, Mizoram. He has teaching experience of more than nine years and published more than 25 research papers and articles in various books and journals. He has published his book named "Elementary Education in Assam and West Bengal-A Comparative Study". He has also completed one UGC minor research project to his credit. He has been awarded UGC-IUC Associateship in Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla.
