This volume provides a critique of the Indian state and polity in the context of neoliberalism. It shows how they have been instrumentalised to reproduce appropriate conditions for capitalist accumulation. In this endeavour, primitive accumulation is a crucial concept that helps us understand not just the status quoist forces, but also the potentialities and limits of various anti-state forces and struggles. On the whole, this volume surveys the concrete political experience of neoliberalism in India in terms of political forces, laws and regular 'exceptional' activities of the state, like Operation Green Hunt.
