Con il volume dedicato alla catacomba di Commodilla sono finora stati pubblicati tre Repertori delle pitture delle catacombe romane. La serie č iniziata nell'anno 1987 con la pubblicazione della catacomba dei "Santi Marcellino e Pietro", nel 1991 č seguito il volume dedicato alla catacomba "anonima di via Anapo". I tre Repertori si prefiggono analoghi scopi e seguono metodi simili: si descrivono in un modo esauriente e dettagliato tutte le singole tombe, si presentano i disegni e le fotografie di ciascun complesso sepolcrale ed infine una bibliografia di tutti gli studi scientifici finora apparsi. Il volume inizia con un contributo sulla storia e la topografia del cimitero. Il cubiculum Leonis, con la sua ricca ornamentazione, e la basilichetta sotterranea dei Santi Martiri Felix ed Adauctus con la sua decorazione, e soprattutto con gli affreschi del VII secolo, conferiscono alla catacomba di Commodilla un ruolo particolare nell'ambito della Roma sotterranea cristiana. With the volume on the Commodilla catacomb three repertories of the paintings of the Roman catacombs have been so far published. The series was initiated in 1987 with the publication of the catacomb of St. Marcellinus and Peter, followed by the volume on the anonymous catacomb of via Anapo in 1991. All the three repertories follow the same aim and method: all tombs are individually described comprehensively and in detail, drawings and photographs of every single funeral complex are provided, and then a complete updated bibliography of all scientific studies is added. The volume opens with a contribution towards the history and the topography of the cemetery.
