About the Author:
Giacomo Leopardi è uno dei più grandi scrittori dell'Ottocento italiano e del Romanticismo europeo. Formatosi in un ambiente retrivo, aderì subito alla cultura sensista ed illuminista del settecento, ma presto divenne un intellettuale dalla squisita sensibilità romantica, scagliandosi al contempo contro le illusioni antirazionalistiche del suo secolo, "superbo e sciocco". Nacque nel 1798 a Recanati e morì a Napoli nel 1837.
