By eight years old, he had mastered the Hindu scriptures and won a debate against renowned pundits in Kashi. At eleven years old, he had left his home to begin a fearless journey that would last seven years throughout the length and breadth of India. At twenty-one years old, he was appointed as the spiritual head of a major religious fellowship. At twenty-six years old, he initiated five hundred monks in one night. Throughout his forty-nine years on earth, he ushered in a moral and spiritual renaissance. With a following of two million devotees, he was revered as God and popularly known as Bhagwan Swaminarayan.

In Bhagwan Swaminarayan, Life and Work, Sadhu Vivekjivandas outlines the life and work of Swaminarayan through 36 striking vignettes narrating some of the most representative and consequential episodes of his life. Each episode is magnificently illustrated with detailed, full-page watercolor paintings by Vasudeo Kamath, one of modern India's renowned artists. From Bhagwan Swaminarayan's taming a wild lion to his transformation of one of India's most feared villains, Bhagwan Swaminarayan, Life and Work is a masterfully written and illustrated book that covers a diverse series of events that help to define Bhagwan Swaminarayan's lasting legacy.
