The cyclic oxidation of dense ZrB2 is investigated over the temperature range of 700-1200o C in static air condition. Attempts have also been made to study the production of the ZrB2-Cu composite and evaluate their behaviour as an electrical discharge machining (EDM) cutting tool. The synthesize powder shows better sinterability and oxidation resistance than commercially available powder. The ZrB2-Cu composite shows better performance than copper as a tool material during EDM and finally the EDM debris has been analyzed with different EDM process parameters. 168 pp. Englisch.
